Microalgae are a versatile primary material. Microalgae have a lot of interesting components including:

  • Omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA and DHA;
  • essential amino-acids (EAA) such as Methionine and Cysteine;
  • phytosterols such as Cholesterol and brassicasterol;
  • vitamins such as Biotin and provitamin A;
  • trace elements such as selenium.

This makes them interesting from the nutraceutical point of view. Several algae species such as Spirulina and Chlorella are already being commercialized in the nutraceutical market by different companies. The algae grown by SBAE have an even more interesting potential in this market because of their different compositions.

A step further is the pharmaceutical market. Microalgae belonging to the families grown by SBAE industries have been reported to have antibacterial properties which might make them interesting in this market. Other properties are promising and remain to be explored.

SBAE industries has prototyped and fully tested products for the cosmetics market. These were found to have excellent hydration, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.

These markets are mainly addressed by SBAE's AlgaForce Technology.
